As part of a comprehensive condominium renovation, this compact galley kitchen was redesigned to replace an outdated layout with a bright, efficient, and contemporary space. The project required careful planning to accommodate all major kitchen appliances, a wine cooler, and a concealed clothes washer and dryer within a limited footprint.
The existing kitchen was fully demolished to make way for a more functional layout, custom cabinetry, and coordinated finishes. Every component was selected and positioned to maximize circulation, storage, and ease of use while maintaining a clean, cohesive appearance.
Space-saving appliances were integrated throughout the design. A compact washer and dryer were concealed behind cabinet doors, while the dishwasher and refrigerator were also incorporated seamlessly into the cabinetry. A new cooktop with an oven installed below replaced the outdated freestanding range, creating a streamlined cooking area. The wine cooler was incorporated as an additional convenience without compromising valuable workspace.
The cabinetry was planned to provide practical, purpose-built storage. Features include dedicated compartments for cookie sheets, an organized spice cabinet, a pantry, and a pull-out station for refuse and recycling. These elements help keep countertops clear and ensure that frequently used items remain accessible.
Because the kitchen is windowless, the lighting and material palette were especially important. New recessed fixtures and a central ceiling light provide balanced illumination, while under-cabinet lighting improves visibility for food preparation. White cabinetry and textured white subway tile reflect light throughout the room, making the narrow space feel brighter and more open. A granite countertop with natural color variation introduces contrast, visual depth, and a durable work surface.
The completed remodel transforms the former kitchen into a polished, highly functional space tailored to condominium living. Through thoughtful planning, integrated appliances, efficient storage, and a light-enhancing finish palette, the design meets a demanding list of practical requirements while delivering a cohesive and inviting result.
