The design brief was to take the primary guest bedroom, and while keeping this function intact, create a fully efficient dual home office with all the electronics and functionality of a modern office. The room had to be able to transition seamlessly from one function to the next, while separating each function in a way that is not conspicuously visible when not in use.
A custom bookcase was designed around the bed to conceal it during work hours and allow it to appear at the push of a button when guests visit. A bookshelf conceals a door, that is entry into a small closet that houses office equipment and supplies. The chairs are fitted with a removable lap top desk table that provides flexibility to either work at the desk area or when away from the desk while enjoying the view. A TV is built into the bookcase surrounded by a custom frame, and when not in use it streams a selection of the owner’s favorite classic art.
